Musick for the Performancoid Installation in 23 Parts, the "Plastic Spider Thing"
This work was created as the soundtrack to a Ritual Sex Performance by Massimo and Pierce of Black Sun Productions, Zurich.
Radical young artists, Fetish Club owners, and experienced male sex-workers since their teens, Massimo and Pierce recently began an extensive and ongoing collaboration with Coil on their Scandinavian and European tour.
Pierce and Massimo are notorious in their own countries for their extraordinarily raw and truthful artworks, and highly charged appearances, as well as for their SexClub which, even in the tolerant Swiss city of Zurich, is still frequently raided as a result of claims of deviant or lurid sexual activity.. Bravery, sedition and scandal accompany the pair wherever they decide to travel and work.
Their latest performance "Plastic Spider Thing" is a highly moral yet sexually explicit exploration into the relationship between the Spider and the Fly.
A soundtrack was commissioned from DraZen, the third member of their Black Sun artistic collective, who used loops and mutated fragments of numerous Coil works to produce this multi-leveled 'dronewerk', by turns dark slabs of Time Machines-style electronica, and inspirational fluid sound-scapes, that suggest ideas and shapes while remaining mutable.
Coil themselves heard "Plastic Spider Thing" for the first time while receiving a demonstration of various pieces of bondage machinery at a private ceremony at Massimo and Pierce's Club in Zurich.
Perhaps unsurprisingly under those circumstances, they were so impressed by the work that they immediately agreed to release it on their own Eskaton label.
"Plastic Spider Thing" is a subtle work of pulse-pieces and dream waves, spherical severities, manipulated syntax, words and sensation, that makes the perfect accompaniment to any dark, and extended personal excursion into the Time-Space Playground.

From January 23rd, 2002 to December 17, 2003 we've been staging throughout
Europe the performance / installation in 23 parts Plastic Spider Thing:
our epic descent into the depths of Sexual Magick ritualism. It's been the
greatest challenge of the last two years of our personal and artistic life
and on its way we found the most precious of treasures: friends.
To some of them we can't avoid to express namely our love and gratitude:

and our project and for giving a home to the PST original soundtrack on

We did our part. Plastic Spider Thing leaves behind itself a legacy of 23 installations, about
12.230 meters of cling film wasted, about 10 different soundtracks, about
40 hours of video footages and thousands of polaroids and photographs, some
orgasms and a lot of pleasure. It's our intention to dedicate the next months
(more probably years) to the editing of this material and make it progressively
available in the future through this website.
We hope Plastic Spider thing will survive into the personal mythology of
someone. We'd like to know that the path we started will be followed by
others. The rules are there for you. Get a victim and a soundtrack, some
meters of cling film and a polaroid camera. Now it's your time. Wrap your
desires in plastic. It's just fantastic.
